One thing has not changed for Greg Peterkin since he baked his first
cake at 12 years old in his Home Economics class: his enjoyment for
making Wedding Cakes. Over 10,000 cakes later, it is obvious that enjoyment
has grown into love.
Twenty-five
years after Greg baked his first cake, he still approaches the creation
of each cake with an enthusiasm that inspires even the brides. That
enthusiasm has prompted him to place his Wedding Cakes in statewide
competitions each year. Winning first place ribbons has become a consistent
honor for Greg.
Yet the superlatives and design awards have not quelled the basic bakers’
principle for Greg – “it must taste good”. “Striving
to be the best includes taste”, says Greg. Even with his 25 years
experience working as a baker, when Greg started his business he turned
to his Grandmother to perfect his recipe.
Known for his exceptionally
rich and moist butter cake, Greg attributes the superb quality of his
cakes to his grandmother’s help when he started Sweet Creations
by Greg. “Grandma’s cakes were renowned for the wonderful
texture and taste,” says Greg “I try to take what I learned
from her and cover each cake in something as exquisite as the taste
underneath.”
